Spring Showcase (Last year)

Just barely put this video up! Some of you came to this event! Last spring at my choir concert was our annual showcase event. There are six solosits/small groups and the audience votes on them! I got 2nd place and won some money.

Headshots

I had these done over the summer so I had a headshot to bring with me to the NYC.  I learned a lot about headshots and resumes in NY. The casting director said head shots aren't necessarily your prettiest shot or your personal favorite. It is the one that has "something behind the eyes" ...if that makes sense. And it's supposed to be one that just really looks like you! What one represents me the best?

I Guess I Shouldn't Complain But...

I may explode any second.  LITERALLY if I could say one common challenge that I have over and over and over and over again all the time every single time without fail.
It would be that big important events to me that I wish to go to, ALWAYS HAPPEN ON THE SAME DAY, AT THE SAME TIME.

C'mon man!

I need to start writing them down because it happens all the time. Off the top of my head the most recent one I can think of was in July.

I had my New York trip, the same time American Idol tryouts were in SLC (which I've just always wanted to try out for), AND Jenny was hanging out with Ham and Squints from the Sandlot while I was in New York. This is what I mean by I shouldn't complain, but you have to admit it's quite annoying that my "dreams" like to occur simultaneously.

So all the colleges that I am applying to, I am applying to because of their Musical Theatre department. To get into these, I have been planning on going to LA in Feb where all the east coast colleges come to have auditions on the west coast. So I'm pluggin along, planning to attend these auditions on February 8th. So I go to write it down in my calendar and guess what. It is closing night for the show I'm in Hairspray. Yes on February 8th. When I went to put THAT in my other calendar, would you like to guess what else? Prom. Yes Prom is also on February 8th. Isn't that wonderful. I know. Well anyway; if I can't audition for these schools there is no point in me going there. And I just spent every waking hour of this week in my counselor's office working on my dang application and with my English teacher working on my dang essay to submit today. And today is when I find out I can't even go to the auditions!!!

Yes, they have other auditions in other places.
So maybe it's technically possible for me to audition in NYC, but the chances of my mom letting me are not great...just cause she was only gonna let me go to LA cause my friend is going to and her mom was going to drive. So maybe possibly if I come up with the money for a plane ticket she might let me.

One of the counselors at my school is the nicest and most helpful lady. I was telling her this predicament, and she said "Isn't this your dream? you have to go to NY and audition! This sounds an awful lot like the plot of a Disney movie." Haha anyway that made me smile.


If this fails I'll just go live on an island.

What's Happening

Clubs
I am always going from one activity to another, ditching one activity early to make it to another activity late. Getting in trouble for missing club meetings because I am at a different club meeting. (hashtag 1st world problems.) I may or may not have gotten involved into too many clubs this year! The clubs and positions I am in are

FCCLA- Vice President Public Relations (whatever that means)

Student Comissioners

Koltures- Treasurer


Plus I am in Madrigals and my choir teacher keeps scheduling early morning practices and we have a billion concerts.

Hairspray
But on another note, I am going to be in Hairspray!!!! I have wanted to be in Hairspray forever. I am STOKED!!! IT opens on January 25th, and goes for two or three weekends. I am the part of Lou Ann, who if you have seen the movie, is one of the "Nicest Kids in Town". That is what I wanted to be so I am excited!!

College Applications

College applications are so annoying! Some of the essay prompts are as dumb as can be. I'm applying to a lot of schools too. I am applying to 1 in Maine, 2 in Boston, 7 in New York, 1 in California, and BYU. :)

AND I am auditioning for all these school's Musical Theatre Program so on top of that I am learning dances, memorizing monologues, and working on songs for these auditions. Some of them I can send in a video audition, and others of them I am still working on getting my mom to let me go to either LA or Las Vegas where the schools come to the west coast and have auditions.

So that's what's been happening!

NEW YORK

{The reason it takes me so long to do any updates is because I upload the pictures/videos and then it always fails so I just give up and try again a week later.}

So, when my computer decides to cooperate I will do a more detailed report with pictures. Since nothing will upload, I will just share this link to my video.

At the end of the week we had a showcase at a theater. We preformed all the dances we had learned that week, and some people got to sing their audition songs. I got to, and so this is me singing at the showcase!

Mykonos

This is actually Day 3 of the trip. My pictures from Day 2 were being weird. So we borded the cruise ship!! Ummm the first day on the ship we were all so excited and were running around top deck bottom deck all over. I will do another post just on the ship though. This post is about the first island we went to, Mykonos. It was SO PRETTY!  This island had all white houses, but it's not the famous island that you might be thinking of, (Santorini). This island was just calm and cute and cute and cute. Our tour guide basically just took us up to a point and then gave us free time.

 

One cool thing, is our tour guide Gloria had told us earlier that if we see the pelicans on this island, they would bring us luck the rest of the trip. Becaues all the pelicans left along time ago or something and these two stayed. It's not normal for Pelicans to be in Greece or the whole Mediterranean I think.

 

They had little ice cream shops everywhere! And a little crepe shop, we did get crepes. Anyway enjoy the pics!

Parthenon

(I've litterally been trying FOREVER to do posts on Greece, and my computer uploads most of the pictures, and then the last two it never uploads, and it won't even let me put up the ones that DID upload. So it will have to be short posts like this for now on!)

 

 



Our first day in Athens we went on a bus to the Parthenon. A temple dedicated to the goddess Athena. I'm not your biggest history person, and I thought it was a lot cooler than I thought I would. Becuase you see so many pictures of this and I was looking right at it! It's amazing because I would have NEVER thought I would see that in my whole life. I remember when I saw it that's when I really started thinking I should travel more. It's crazy how many amazing places and things there are that most people never see. It really made me want to travel!
