Donations.....

Hi all!!! This is sort of a personal post, so I hope you don't mind. But it is a swell way to spread the news! :D My Youth Group is doing a Neighborhood Yard Sale Fundraiser to raise money for camps and things. We are selling all are things from donations.

So as you are doing your Spring Cleaning, (using all my tips! :) Then instead of taking it to the DI, deliver it to me and I will sell it! And anything that doesn't get sold we will take to the DI for you. So if you have anything that could be useful to someone else but you don't want it, bring it to me!!! Thanks.

Music

Curious...why would there be a post on music if this is supposed to be a blog about homemaking?

Lets dig deeper. :)
Ah, well if you think about homemaking, there is a lot of things to it. There is house cleaning, decorating, cooking, and fixing. Well I just wanted to reccomend to all of you out there that while you are working in your home, you should listen to uplifiting, happy, and/or inspirational music. Scrubbing the floors in silence or with kids screeming can cause more stress. But if you have nice music in the back ground, then you will calm down inside, and maybe the kids won't even act as crazy.
Same as when your cooking. Just put on some nice music next time you cook, and you will have a much better experience, wether you already enjoy it or not!!!

Annual or Perennial?

It is finally starting to warm up outside, so I decided I would do a post about flowers. There are 2 basic different "types" of flowers, if thats what you would call it. Annual and Perennial. What's the difference??

Annual
An annual grows from seed and blooms and sets seed and then dies in just one growing season. Petunia and marigold are examples of flowers widely grown as annuals. Annuals need to be replanted each spring. Most annuals bloom continuously from spring through fall.

Perennial

A perennial flower lives for three or more seasons. It may or may not be mature enough to bloom the first year from seed.Perennials will need periodic rejuvenation and/or replacement, typically every three to five years. Most perennials bloom for only a short period -- a week or two or three -- once a year.

There are pros and cons to both. I always have a hard time remembering the difference because it seems like annual should bloom every year because its annual!

But just remember this: P is for permanent and perennial.

Some popular perennials
-Clematis
-Bleeding Hearts
-Columbine
-Coneflowers
-Daisy

These may or may not sound familliar, but I bet you would recognize them if you saw them. None of these are the correct "scientific name" just their common name.
